M-L-Z - The Working Mans Hosting

M-L-Z is simply hosting, no gimmicks.  We feel that hosting should not require researching a half dozen plans.  We offer one plan with 2 additional features.  That one plan supports 99.9% of all sites on the Internet.

Feature-rich Hosting

Because M-L-Z only does hosting, we can provide a comprehensive platform that meets the needs of 99.9% of all web sites.

  • corporate web portals
  • community and government web portals
  • enterprise web applications
  • full-featured eCommerce sites
  • online brochure and catalog sites
  • small business sites
  • nonprofit web sites
  • personal and corporate weblogs

Dedicated to Open Source

M-L-Z works hard to support Open Source projects, and make our hosting for them as compatible as possible.  We actively support Open Source both in time and money.

M-L-Z History

M-L-Z was started by Michael "Andy" Anderson in 1994.  Originally named Wacky World Hosting, we started with a single server and handwritten software.

In 1992 Wacky World was renamed to M-L-Z Hosting to be a more professional company.  Along the way we built web sites, did custom PHP and Java work.

In 2006 our web development and hosting operations split, this was mainly done because nobody focused on just doing hosting right.

By September 2008, we stopped doing custom programming, and focused simply on hosting.  Our goal was 4 nines, or 99.9999% uptime.  At this point we are at 5 nines of uptime.  Our downtime is measured in seconds per year.  This quite incredible as none of our servers have been running less then 120 days as of this writing.  That downtime was simply a reboot to take advantage of software updates.  We have had one outage in 5 years that took 30 minutes to fix.  That is true uptime.

M-L-Z also has the lightest load rate in the industry.  Where most hosts put hundreds of sites on a single multi-processor server, we limit our servers to about 100.  This prevents server bogging and slow sites.

Every server goes through a security inspection every day.  This is to search for security issues and ensure our customers data is secure.  All vital software is kept up to date and configured in a secure way.
